Durch die Möglichkeit, mit der Cloud-Init-Funktion und den Docker-Treibern Maschinen innerhalb einer Minute in Betrieb zu nehmen und sie wieder zu löschen, wenn sie nicht mehr benötigt werden, versetzt Exoscale Whalebone in die Lage, die Verarbeitung großer Datenmengen durch Microservices und Loadbalancer horizontal zu skalieren. Auf diese Weise kann Whalebone seinen Elasticsearch-Cluster und die Log-Verarbeitungspipeline an jeweilige Veränderungen anpassen. Exoscale stellt dabei sicher, dass eine Gruppe von Maschinen mit der gleichen oder einer ähnlichen Aufgabe im Falle einer Unterbrechung nicht auf der gleichen Hardware betrieben wird.
Datenübertragungspaket
Neben den flexiblen und skalierbaren Hardwareressourcen überzeugte Whalebone auch das Datenübertragungspaket für jede einzelne Maschine, das für gängige Server ausreichend groß ist und eine Vorhersage über die Kosten der benötigten Bandbreite ermöglicht. Weitere Pluspunkte sind die mitgelieferte Perimeter-Firewall, die vollständig über die Benutzeroberfläche konfigurierbar ist, und die Nutzung des hochverfügbaren S3-Speichers von Exoscale für Backups und Daten-Snapshots, für den bei der Arbeit innerhalb von Exoscale keine Datenübertragungskosten anfallen.

The Challenge
To do this, Whalebone processes hundreds of millions of DNS requests in real time every day. Filtering DNS requests not only allows you to detect malicious traffic, but also to avoid it in a simple and transparent way.
