SpeicherBox.ch GmbH is a company based in Zofingen, Switzerland, that offers secure cloud storage for individual use. The young and innovative team at SpeicherBox has set itself the goal of building and operating a genuine Swiss online storage solution for private individuals, associations, small and medium-sized businesses as a trustworthy alternative to the foreign, anonymous online storage services. The all-round carefree package for external data storage guarantees customers 100% privacy through end-to-end encryption and external data backup exclusively in Switzerland.
Since trustworthiness, availability and data security of customer data are top priorities for SpeicherBox, the necessary IT infrastructure also had to meet the high requirements. After conducting its own market screening among Swiss cloud providers with a focus on object storage, which enables access to and management of stored data via an S3-compatible interface, and comparing the various providers and offerings, the decision was made in favor of Exoscale.
Exoscale, a data protection-oriented IaaS platform that provides on-demand resources for building and hosting applications, was a perfect fit for the purposes of SpeicherBox. This is because the platform provides all the infrastructural components such as network, firewall, security, storage and server to handle the complete operation of the SaaS platform, including the website and internal documentation and monitoring systems, and to securely store the large volume of customer data on an S3-compatible object store. In detail, the simplicity of the console and services convinced the SpeicherBox managers, as did the performance of the compute systems and SOS storage. In addition, Exoscale met an absolute knockout criterion: a data center location in Switzerland. As icing on the cake, Exoscale also scored with competitive pricing and a simple and transparent pricing structure.
